Sunoco City at Friendship
Man, these guys built a city here at the track. I couldn't believe it. I
met a few of the guys today and seem like very nice people. . I got
stopped by 2 sheriffs upon entering their lot. They said the park will
be patrolled day & night..a good thing for security.

Your First Pass as a Bracket Drag Racer
If it's time for you to make your first pass, use these step-by-step instructions to guide your way.
BEFORE YOU MAKE YOUR FIRST PASS
- Know the Rules & Regulations: It is your responsibility to know and follow all safety Rules & Regulations Friendship Raceway's Rules & Regulations, View the NHRA Basic Regulations Rule Book (PDF) , NHRA E.T. Quick Reference, View the NHRA Street Legal Regulations.
- Sign-in and get head to Tech: Most likely, you will have already signed-in and filled out your tech-sheet when you payed your admission at the entrance. If not, you can do so in the tower. Once that is complete, you can head to the staging lanes to have your car inspected. You can direct your safety questions to tech inspectors. Now you're ready to make your first practice pass.
- Line up: Pull your vehicle to the staging lanes. Use lane 3 to make a pass in the left lane and lane 5 to make a pass in the right lane. Front car in each lane can pull to the edge of the starting line barricade.
- Burnout: A starting line official will motion for you to pull onto the track and assist you while backing your car in and out of the waterbox. When you see him making circles in the air with his index finger, you know you have pulled your back tires far enough out of the water to perform your burnout. If you do not want to burnout, simply continue to staging.
- Courtesy Staging: After your burn out, roll the front of your car to the starting lines painted across the lanes. Watch the bulbs on the Christmas Tree. As your car approaches the first line, the top bulb will light. This is called Pre-stage. If you have an opponent in the opposite lane, wait in the Pre-stage position until your opponent lights his top bulb. Now, you both can slowly edge your cars forward until you light your Stage bulbs.
- The Christmas Tree will begin the countdown with the three amber colored lights. 1 - 2 - 3 - GO! When you see green, punch it!!
- After you cross the finish line, slow your vehicle and exit the track to your right. Continue on the return road. The speed limit here is 15 mph so wave to your fans! You just made your first pass!
- Pit your car and head over to the tower to collect your time slip (ET Slip).
